Venue: Burley Railway Station car park
Description: This 4.5 mile circular walk is being held jointly with the Wharfedale Beekeepers Association (WBA) as part of their centenary celebrations. It will provide an introduction to the world of beekeeping, from the perspective of someone relatively new to the skills involved as well as someone more experienced. Information will be shared during the two visits, one in Burley, the other in Menston, about the annual cycle of beekeeping as well as how to ensure our gardens are bee-friendly! Printed information about beekeeping and the work of the WBA in supporting new beekeepers will be provided. In order to cope with the numbers for this walk, the group will be split into two groups of 14 (plus leaders). One group will visit the Burley beekeeper first, walking then to Menston via Hag Farm and Bleach Mill Lane. The second group will visit Menston first via field paths and quiet roads. We will aim to finish the walk by 5 pm. Both walks can call in at Bleach Mill if there is interest in buying local honey. There are no stiles. Please bring refreshments. No dogs, please.
Cost: Free – bring money for honey.
Booking: Required – limit on numbers (28 – two groups of 14)
