Venue: Burley Railway Station to catch the 9.30 train to Bradford
Description: The 13 mile linear walk will follow the first two stages of the Yorkshire Heritage Way, a 40 mile trail linking Bradford and Ripon Cathedrals, and passing two of Yorkshire’s World Heritage sites, Saltaire and Fountains Abbey. The walk, led by Antonia Woosnam–Savage, starts at Bradford Cathedral, and follows a surprisingly green, scenic and wildlife rich corridor along Bradford Dale to reach Shipley. The route then follows the Leeds to Liverpool canal tow path to reach Saltaire, before climbing up to Hawksworth and Burley Moors via Shipley Glen. There are some moderately steep gradients, rough paths and some stiles. Sensible footwear and clothing is essential. Please bring a picnic and drinks for lunch time. There will be an optional refreshment stop at Bleach Mill. We will aim to be back in Burley by around 4.30 pm.
Cost: Free – except money for rail fare and refreshments.
Booking: Required – limit on numbers (28)
