About the event

Time: 11am to 12:30 pm Venue: Parish Centre, Station Road

Why is it that Richard Trevithick’s achievements are seldom, if ever, taught in schools alongside those of James Watt, George Stevenson and Isambard Brunel? Yet, it was Trevithick’s ingenuity and determination that provided the power to drive the Industrial and transport revolution. In a nutshell he was a mining engineer and an inventor whose most significant successes were building the high-pressure steam engine and the first full scale working railway steam locomotive. His boiler design is still the basis for all high-pressure steam generation today – a remarkable legacy since he died almost 200 years ago!
